Welcome to Heart to Heart

Heart disease is the most common cause of illness and death for people in the United States. It kills more people each year than lung cancer, colon cancer, breast cancer, or prostate cancer. Fortunately, we have good ways to prevent patients from developing heart disease.

In accordance with recent American Heart Association Guidelines, this webtool will allow you to:

  1. Calculate a patientís chances of heart disease in the next 10 years using a Framingham-based risk calculator, and
  2. Explore how much that patient's chances can be reduced with well-proven primary prevention strategies (e.g. aspirin, hypertension medication, cholesterol medication, and smoking cessation)

You can also click on the links across the top of any page in this tool to:

  1. Learn more about the evidence for risk calculation and preventive treatments, and
  2. Learn about how to promote your patients' adherence to any preventive strategy once a decision about risk reduction has been made
